Coaches Corner

Keep up the great work, Stingrays! For our final swim meets, we want to be mindful of small errors that can cause DQ's (i.e. disqualifications). While these are a normal part of the learning process, it's important to know what they are and how to avoid them.

• Practice doing starts and turns the right way, so your body remembers what to do.
• Use two hands to touch the wall in breaststroke and butterfly.
• Wait for the horn so you don’t start too early.
• Look for the “T” on the pool floor to help you know when to do your flip turn.
• Maintain the same stroke the entire lap.

Carnival Relay Event - Saturday, June 20

• Theme: Celebrate the USA! Parents, feel free to wear red, white, and blue! Swimmers should wear their Stingrays swimsuit and cap.
• Location: 2333 Brandon Oaks Pkwy, Indian Trail, NC 28079
• Arrival: 8:15 am
• Warm-up: 8:30-8:45 am
• Volunteers' Meeting: 8:45 am 
• Start Time: 9:00 am
• Food trucks: Rockhounds Coffee, Dinky Donuts, and concessions will be available. Menus are attached at the bottom of the email.

Our Final Week on Deck (June 22-28)

June 22: Regular age-based practices from 5:30-7:45 pm

June 23: Make-up Meet at Summerwood. Arrive at 5:15 pm. We will resume where Thursday's meet left off. Email Coach Amanda if your swimmer will not be available. Volunteer positions will assume the 2nd shift assignments. Email the committee if you are no longer available.

June 24 & 25: Regular age-based practices from 5:30-7:45 pm

June 26: Friday Night Lights - End of Season Celebration!

• RSVP in SwimTopia by Wednesday, 6/24
• Laps of Love winners will be announced
• Wear your Stingrays swim swimsuit and t-shirt for team pictures
• We want to celebrate our graduates! If you have a graduate (elementary, middle, or high), email the committee their name, school, and year.

All Star Swim Meet - Sunday, June 28

This final meet is an opportunity for all teams in the Greater Charlotte Swim League to compete on a large scale. Here are a few details for us to prepare:

Date: Sunday, June 28 at 2:00 pm

Location: 800 East 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 

Reminders:

• Shrimpers are not eligible for All-Star
• Please indicate in SwimTopia if your swimmer is available or not available to participate by Sunday, June 21
• Parents will be notified of selection to participate by Wednesday, June 24
• After notification, volunteer sign-ups will open
• See flyer for additional details on the All-Star event (bottom of email)
