Preparing for the Meet
✅ WHAT TO BRING
- Stingrays suit, cap, and t-shirt
- Goggles (plus a spare pair)
- Towels
- Dry clothes (including a sweatshirt)
- Black Sharpie marker
- Water bottle & snacks
- Chairs for parents/visitors
- Sunscreen (apply after marking swimmer)
⏰ Arrive at least 15 minutes before warm-ups.
Swimmers should arrive in their Stingrays suit, with goggles fitted and cap on.
✍️HOW TO MARK A SWIMMER
⚠️ Do not apply sunscreen before marking. Marker won’t write on top of sunscreen.
Why Mark?
- Helps swimmers remember their events
- Assists coaches and volunteers with organization
- Reduces confusion during the meet
Marking Instructions:
- Before sunscreen, write on clean, dry skin.
- Use a Sharpie marker.
- Write last name on the upper right arm.

Use the heat sheet to find:
- E = Event
- H = Heat
- L = Lane
- FR or FREE = Freestyle
- BK or BACK = Backstroke
- BR = Breaststroke
- FLY = Butterfly
- IM = Individual Medley
Write info in a table format on the forearm or thigh.
Example:
For Relays:
Include:
- Event, heat, lane
- Relay type (e.g., 200 FR or 200 Medley)
- Swimmer’s position (1–4)
Example:
Medley Relay Order:
- Backstroke
- Breaststroke
- Butterfly
- Freestyle
